The sonata in this edition presents itself in three movements, with a tacet of the trumpets in the central grave movement and the brilliance of the interventions of the Clarini in the opening and closing allegri, characterising the last movement with the use of acephalous rhythms that give the music a particular distinction and elegance.
The pages under examination reflect the role, style and methods of use of the trumpet in the Bolognese school. Its use has been shaped in the fervent urban environment of the time under the influence of composers such as Maurizio Cazzati, Giacomo Antonio Perti, Giuseppe Torelli, Giovanni Bononcini, Francesco Onofrio Manfredini, Aldrovandini, just to site the most significant.
The following table contains the names of the trombetti of the Concerto Palatino that was potentially available to Alberti and other operating composers in the Bolognese area in the first years of the eighteenth century. The list is given with hierarchical priority, first the Dean, who took on a role of responsibility in the instrumental group.
